The weekend after 4th of July was spent enjoying the sights and sounds of Branson, MO, which we have lovingly termed "Cowboy Vegas". We are blessed to have friends who generously allows us to make use of their incredible cabin, which enables us to stay close to the major attractions of the city while being in a beautiful setting that still feels like a world away.
We were joined on this adventure by the Chase and Blakemore families. We spent the majority of our weekend getaway out on the Blakemore's boat and had am amazing time riding, tubing, swimming, and attempting to learn to ski on Table Rock Lake.

On Day 2 on the lake, we had a bit of a battle of the wills with Mother Nature as a huge storm rolled in while we were out on the water. God, of course, is good and we were able to find an unoccupied boat slip to pull into that provided us with some protection, but we braved the wind and strong rains outside together. Our kids were totally freaked out and to this day, are still dealing with lots of anxiety surrounding storms. We are working together to help them stay calm. Trena was smart enough to gather some of our group into a circle in the midst of the mini-marina to say prayers and recite Bible verses while others of us (Brandon and I) sat in the boat under the modest protection of a rubber raft and attempted to provide some comfort to panicking children. The lesson the kids have learned from that is that in moments of fear, prayer is where we should turn. The storm eventually passed and we were able to spend a couple more hours on the lake together to end the afternoon. We almost capsized the boat pulling into the dock, but that's a story for another time. :)
We also enjoyed the Dixie Stampede as well as some shopping at the Branson outlets. Pool time was also a favorite. Here is Hadley all decked out in her swim apparel. :)
We love summer!
