I wanted to share some pictures of Connor's first day of Kindergarten with you. He has done very well with the whole experience...the only difficulty being getting him motivated to get ready in the morning...which I must confess, he comes by that tendency honestly (and not because of his Daddy...this one is a McKinney trait, folks!).
At any rate, we were allowed to walk him into the school on his first day, which was great. Here he is in front of the building:
We made it to the classroom...notice the sign in the background indicating that he's a KINDERGARTENER!!! At this point, you can see that he is a little put out by all the picture taking. ;)
The highlight of our morning was discovering that one of Connor's preschool classmates, Jake, is in his class at summer school. Neither of them was too excited about the idea of summer school, so it was good for them to see each other. This was also very helpful for me, because I knew that Connor wouldn't be left alone, not knowing anyone in his class (my vision was of the other 18 children in the class being best friends and him being the only one who was new...good thing I'm not overly dramatic!). He and Jake plopped right down next to each other and started coloring at the table. This is the "Mom and Dad! It's time for you to get OUT OF HERE!" moment:
He has had all good reports about his time at summer school. He told me yesterday that he had "4 recesses, Mom!" We have almost fulfilled our self-imposed week long attendance requirement, and we will allow Connor to choose if he wants to continue to go after this week. Today, he told Brandon that he might opt to go because "Someday, I want to have 3 jobs!"
What a smart young man.

Hi!
These feelings and memories of these moments will come flooding back the day you send/leave Connor at college. Bring a box of Kleenex! You wouldn't want it any other way, but it does sting just a little bit. You are so wise to take pictures of these things!! NEVER too many photos! You are also wise to not allow the situation with Caden to dampen the fun with your other kids. Hang in there! You are phenominal! We'll keep sending the prayers.

Ah, that last picture says it's okay, you guys can go now. I am so glad he had a good buddy there, my twins always had each other so no worry there. But the solo kids crying broke my heart and my boys went and comforted them! It is a big step for Connor but don't worry Lindsay, he will always need you, I promise. He is so cute and what in the world is up with "3 jobs"? Holy cow he sounds so ambitious!!:) This sure took me back to 32 years ago when mine started kindergarten. Wow, now my grandson will be there in two years. Time flies. Praying for you and Brandon and for sweet Caden as he gets ready to meet you.

Just stopping by this Tuesday morning to let you know you are in my thoughts and prayers. What was the verdict on Connor continuing his education at this point this summer?:) He is soooooo cute as you well know. Praying for peace, wisdom and hope for you this week. Hoping for a wonderful week too.
